What you receive each week

Three sample messages (examples, not real messages). Every message carries a date and a source and stays under 300 characters.

  • Watch
Orange orchard: the lower half is 12% less green than last week, and only 2 mm of rain fell in 10 days. Walk the lower rows this week and check the drip lines.Example · Thursday 21 January 2027 · satellite image, 2 days old
  • No clear view
Hello. Clouds hid your field on 6 of the last 7 satellite passes. Radar shows no standing water. We will look again next week.Example · Thursday 22 July 2027 · radar image, 1 day old
  • Baseline building
Hello. Your field is registered. We need 3 more clear days before the first full report. Until then, weather: no rain for the next 5 days.Example · Monday 16 November 2026 · weather forecast

A Watch message never names a fertiliser, a pesticide or an irrigation amount. Those come only in Decide, only for crops an agronomist has reviewed.

Guides: bahar, water, drip, fruit drop and yellow leaves for the orange orchard; what to check and when for cotton, soybean, tur and chana.

The Vidarbha orange belt: Nagpur, Katol and Kalmeshwar, Amravati, Wardha; rainfall, crops and sources.

What it costs

Watch: free for everyone

Changes on your field, the weather, and a clear note when the satellite cannot see. For any field in India.

Decide: for reviewed crops

When to irrigate, where the stress is, by when to act. Only for crops whose model an agronomist has reviewed. Three ways to get it:

  • Season pass: You buy it yourself for one season.
  • Subsidised through a scheme: Where a government or institutional programme applies, it pays part. The scheme's name and your net price are shown clearly.
  • Free through a sponsor: If your group, FPO or a company sponsors the season, you pay nothing. The message names the sponsor.

Watch is free. The Decide price is told to you before you join, and you never pay for something you did not choose.

How your field is read from space

  1. 1

    Share your field once

Send your location on WhatsApp or tell us on a call. We draw the boundary with you. This one is a 3.2-acre field near Katol.

  2. 2

A satellite passes every few days

The European Sentinel-2 satellites photograph every field in India every five days or sooner, including light the eye cannot see. Cloudy passes are set aside.

  3. 3

    We read only your squares

Each square is 10 m by 10 m. This field is 129 squares. Your advice comes from these, not from a district average.

  4. 4

    Greenness, square by square

Leaves reflect near-infrared light strongly. The ratio, called NDVI, shows how dense and active the canopy is. Darker green means denser leaves.

  5. 5

    Compared with its own past

Every clear pass for a year, this field against the fields around it. On 20 May its greenness fell 38% in ten days, faster than its neighbours. That is what a message is for.

  6. 6

One message you can act on

What changed and what to check this week, in Marathi, Hindi or English, on the phone you already have.

What we can and cannot see

  • If your field is under half a hectare (about 1.25 acres), the signal is approximate. We only say whether growth went up or down.
  • If your field is under 0.2 hectares (about half an acre), you get Watch only.
  • In the monsoon, if no clear image arrives within 15 days, radar tells us only whether water is standing and how growth is trending.
  • Decide is not open for any crop yet. The first crop will be citrus in Vidarbha, after agronomist review.
  • Watch has calendars for 8 crops: rice, wheat, cotton, sugarcane, soybean, maize, pulses, vegetables. Other crops get trend and weather only.
  • Your field needs a baseline before the first report. The message says how many clear days remain.

How to join

Questions

Is this only for oranges?

No. Watch is for any field and any crop in India. Decide opens first for orange growers in Vidarbha, after an agronomist has reviewed the crop model.

What happens after I call?

We ask for your village and crop, record your field's location and ask for your consent in your language. Weekly messages start when the first season starts. A new field first needs a few clear days to build its baseline.

Who are you?

VarshaKrishi Udhyog Pvt. Ltd., a company working from Nagpur, recognised as a startup by the Government of India's DPIIT (DIPP255998). Founder: Tanmay Sahare. The phone number on this page is ours.

Is it free?

Watch is free for everyone. Decide has a price, which is published only after the first cohort has paid it.

What do I need?

A phone with WhatsApp and your field's location. Nothing else. No device is installed in the field.

Will you tell me when to irrigate?

Only in Decide, and only for a crop an agronomist has reviewed. Watch tells you what changed and what to check.

What if it is cloudy?

Then we say so plainly. We never send a made-up report. Radar can still tell us whether water is standing.

Is my data safe?

We ask for your consent in your language when you join. We do not sell your field data. You can stop at any time.

Which language are the messages in?

Marathi, Hindi or English, whichever you choose. We have checked the Marathi and Hindi text with AI assistance; an agronomist and farmers have not yet reviewed it.

When can I join on WhatsApp?

Our WhatsApp number is not live yet. Until it is, register by phone call. When the number goes live, a WhatsApp button appears on this page.
