Every farmer deserves someone watching their field.
We build one product: weekly satellite crop advice for Indian farmers, in their own language, on WhatsApp. We work from Nagpur, in the heart of India's orange country, and we start where we live.
The view from space is free. Getting it to the farmer is not.
Europe's Sentinel satellites and NASA's Landsat photograph every field in India every few days, and the images are free. What they say about one small field rarely reaches the farmer who works it, in a language and on a phone that farmer already uses.
So most decisions, when to irrigate, what to check, when to call for help, are still made by habit or by a district-level forecast. VarshaKrishi reads the satellite and weather data for each registered field and turns it into one short message a week, in Marathi, Hindi or English, with the date and the source on every message.
Watch is free for every farmer in India. Decide, the crop-specific plan with irrigation timing, opens crop by crop once an agronomist has reviewed the model, starting with Nagpur orange in Vidarbha. Farmers can buy a season pass, or a processor, input company, FPO, foundation or government programme can sponsor it for them.

We start where we live.
Amravati and Nagpur districts hold about 80 per cent of Maharashtra's mandarin orchard area, according to ICAR-CCRI researchers. Katol and Kalmeshwar, close to our base in Nagpur, are where the first Decide season is planned to begin.

Every message carries its date and source, and our methods are public. When we cannot see a field, we say so.
Farmer first
The farmer's language, the farmer's phone, the farmer's field. Partners pay so farmers do not have to.
Review before advice
Paid advice for a crop starts only after an agronomist has reviewed the model behind it.
The data is theirs
Consent in the farmer's own language, no sale of data, and deletion on request.
Tanmay Sahare
